Last week I, Romesh Popelier, went to the IAAPA EMEA Springforum that was held in Gardaland in Italy. During these three days we’ve got several seminars from industry professionals, network dinners and tours at Sealife, Movieland, Leolandia and Gardaland. I met a lot of new and existing contacts, from park directors to ride manufacturers.
During my internship at JNE&LC I’ve learned the importance of a broad network if you’re selling amusement rides. This event was also an excellent opportunity to speak with industry leaders for my internship research. The director of Liseberg and the director of the new Plopsa-park were happy to share their experiences in ride procurement with me.
The biggest benefit of the spring forum is that the group is small enough to talk to everybody and there is always a relaxed atmosphere, it’s different than a normal IAAPA show. It is not only business during this event. During one of the network dinners the marketing director of Liseberg taught me how to drink red wine and he told me about upcoming projects.
That’s the business of fun, serious fun!
